Recently, one of the big news in communication industry was Youtube was sued by Viacom for. displaying copyrighted shows. And, Viacom Company asked for one billion dollar as compensation.
Then, why Google would be sued also ? It is because in last year, Google snapped up YouTube for $1.65 billion, Youtube is belong to Google. Therefore, before we discuss about the lawsuit, we should think about why google want to buy over Youtube? Google did not think about this copyright issue?
After read through information and qualification of Google Management team (http://www.google.com/corporate/execs.html), and some news about that, I was convinced that Google should have thought about the copyright issues, before they bought over Youtube, and they saw the trend in video sharing market. Therefore, it is more effective and easier to buy over a well-known video sharing website, instead of creating a new one. Then what is the factor to let them brush aside copyright concerns?
In my opinion, there may have few possible reasons, and there might be other reasons which I did not think of:
1) Google analyze that they will win the lawsuit, if there is a company sued them
2) Goolge analyze that outcome of those lawsuit won’t effect their business in Youtube
3) Google analyze that the risk level of losing the lawsuit is low.
4) There won’t have any obvious winner or loser in this link of lawsuit
Vidoe sharing is relatively new market; I am quite sure that Google want to become a starring role in this online video revolution. In these recently few years, growing of internet is fast and rapid, and there is a lot of new idea and server keep coming up to earn money. It is like a new country, even it grows very well, but there are still a lot of legal issued which are not covered properly. And, those unclear boundary will become a sensitive issued, like this video sharing.

Why Google can be success?
Recently, I read a report about Google. It reported that Google is going to enter handphone manufacturing industry. They will produce a phone which is similar to Apple’s iPhone with a cheaper price. Besides, Google search enginer and others Google feature, like Gmail, Google Talk, Google Earth and etc will be built into this phone.
After read this report, it let me think that why Google can be so success in a relatively short period? Initially, it just a search engine provider, then why he can grow until so big like today?
In my opinion, they can be success is because they have good infrastructure, updated technology, and well reputation. But, I think that the most important point is they are creative and willing to change their business model, like introduced Google's AdWords, manufacture Handphone, bought over Youtube and etc. I believed that, there is life cycle for every product or service, only you are willing to change, improve and innovate, then you are able to survive in the market longer.
Googles started to earn money when they introduced auctioning ads that appear alongside the search results. As a No.1 search engine, they are keen to think ways to fully utilize their resource and generate greater revenue.

Wireless@SG
In past few months, I think the most significant move in information industry is promoting Wireless@SG service. In the end of last year, Singtel was the first mover who introduced and created hotspot in Singapore to provide this wireless service. In a very short period, both M1 and Starhub had also made a similar move to provide wireless service for their customer. Furthermore, in this one or two year, the infrastructure will be well built and the wireless coverage will be wider.
Therefore, as a customer and consumer, what we need to concern and think about is how to fully use this service? How to generate profit through it? How to attract customer by using this service?
Some of companies had noticed the potential ability on the service, like using wireless service to receive data from security cameras on the road, so they do not need to be linked by cable and can be taken off easily.
Maybe there are some other idea can be implemented by using wireless service. For an example, using it to order food in food court; using it service to call taxi and etc.

Human = Asset
Last week, prof taught us a lot of things, one of parts which I most interested in are “wisdom of crowd”. I think that everyone have their own ability and good in different area, so if they can be assigned works properly and play their role well, it can not only increase productivity of a company, and will also maximize a person ability.
Furthermore, I think that if a person would like to start a business with group of people. They must have almost same believe and passion. Beside it, it is better if they all specialize in different area. For an example, if a group of mechanical students would like to set up business together, although they can produce a good device, they don’t know how to market and promote their product; do you think that they can success in the market?
Give me a chance to tell a story, in the china’s three kingdoms era, Liu Bei asked a wise person why he had so many talented people, but he still could not expand his territory. The wise person replied him that he had many generals who were good in war, and politicians who were good in handle internal affair, but he still lacked of a person who can provide strategic planning to him. After Liu Bei knew about it, he put in his effort and found a person called Kong Ming. And, with helping of Kong Ming, he is able to expand his territory and form the Three Kingdoms era.
From another point of view, if Liu Bei don’t have good generals and politicians, he also can’t expand his territory, even he received helps from Kong Ming. Through this story, I just would like to express that success of a company or a country, it is not depend on one person effort; it is depend on a lot of factors and contribution of many people.

First Lesson
Yeah!! This is my first blog in life, ha ha. My friends should quite surprise that I created this blog is for educational purpose. On 12/1 morning, I went to the MB362 class. I am so sorry that I went in late for around half an hour, so I feel quite lost in the first 15 mins, (Ha ha). And I think I had missed some informationL. Hope I won’t be late again in the subsequence classes.
This class is very interesting and informative. In the first lesson, I had received some information and knowledge in information technology industry. I also learned how to analyze market in different angles and subsequent effect which are caused by a cause, for example, why can Amazon be successful? Is there any business was affected because of creation of Amazon? How those businesses can survive under this situation?
Because of this module, I am able to know two friends who are also my group mates in first presentation, Neo and Tian Yi. I feel that both of them are very knowledgeable and aggressive in doing business. Yah, I also want to set up my own business in engineering industry in the future, but now they help my to explore another view of doing business, through internet and information technology. It motivates me to learn more things on information technology. J
Another thing to share with you, if you did purchase New Strait Time on last Friday (12/1), there is news on page 26 in Home section which is relevant to this module. For your information, if you did not buy that day news paper, I will typed out all important points in the next post. J
